Many institutions have adopted Internet-based e-learning portals or platforms, also known as virtual learning environments (VLE), to support their missions of teaching and learning.

Now, iParadigms will make it easier to integrate our services with your choice of VLE through our new program called Open Options for Integrations. This optional add-on to your annual subscription agreement then allows you to log-in to TOOLS (TurnitinUK Open Options Library Site), a special web-based resource area that provides all the interfaces (APIs), code packages (such as Blackboard Building Blocks), instructions and documentation for connecting your VLE to TurnitinUK services and keeping up with any changes your VLE provider makes.

Use Your Own VLE Instead of Ours

A large number of VLE systems are available, both commercial and open source, to fit the wide variety of environments in the educational world. All VLEs address a basic set of capabilities for:

• Managing lists of classes and enrolled students;
• Submiting assignments (such as to a drop box or in box);
• Tracking assignments and student performance (such as in a gradebook); and
• Providing a “one stop” hub for creating and delivering course materials.

While TurnitinUK comes with its own VLE management environment (which includes the above-mentioned basic capabilities), we are committed to making it easy for customers to use TurnitinUK and related services such as GradeMark through their own choice of VLE.
